Sizing is based more on genetics and less on age. The best way to know your size would be to hold up a millimeter ruler to your ear and measure the distance between the piercing and the edge of the ear. Some people have tiny earlobes and some people have larger thicker earlobes. 8mm works great for upper ear piercings or tiny ear lobes (these DO NOT fit on everyone). Inside opening is 6.5-7mm 10mm will fit most ears. Inside opening is 8.5-9mm 12mm will fit almost all ears. Some will have a little space between the ear and the hoop. Inside opening is 10-11mm. Every Ear and Piercing is Different For the best fit, measure your ears Use a millimeter ruler and measure the distance from the piercing to the edge of your ear. Add 1-2 millimeters for the hoop itself (our measurements are from outside edge to outside edge) and that is your minimum size. For example: With a measurement of 9mm, you would want a 10mm hoop for a close snug fit, or a 12mm hoop for a loose fit with space between the edge of the ear and the hoop. 8mm will not fit on this piercing. These hoops are made from high-quality solid 925 sterling silver, 14k yellow gold fill or 14k rose gold fill (20% gold). If you aren’t allergic to those metals, they will work great for you. If you haven’t worn earrings for a while, you may feel some irritation when you first put the hoops in. This is just because your ears aren’t used to having something in your piercings. The irritation will go away in a few days. Are they lead and nickel-free? Absolutely! They are hypoallergenic. What is Gold-Fill? Gold fill is a thick layer of real 14k gold over brass. The layer of gold is much thicker than regular gold plating and will last anywhere from 10 - 30 years, whereas gold plating typically lasts only a few months. For a quantity of 1, how many hoops will I get? The hoop earrings are sold by the pair so a quantity of 1 is 2 individual hoops (one for each ear). Can I wear the hoops while sleeping, showering, swimming, etc...? Yes, they are designed to be worn all the time. Lots of body care products (shampoo, conditioner, face wash, moisturizer... ) have chemicals in them that can react with the metals, so be sure to rinse your hoops (rotate through your piercings) when you shower. How easy are the hoop earrings to put on? Because of their tiny size, they can be a little tricky to get in your ears. It is best to put them in when you aren't rushed and have time and patience to work with them. If you are having a hard time, ask someone else to help you.
